I was fortunate enough to be encouraged to use my body in a variety of ways as a kid. Karate and ballet were a big part of my childhood and moving my body has always been a source of joy.
After studying something very cerebral at university I realised that I missed moving my body.
I went back to dance classes, started teaching and training martial arts and eventually competed at an international level, which should have been the peak of my career… But instead I was suffering from injuries, frustrated that my body didn’t do what I wanted it to do and miserable from the the intense dieting to make weight cuts.
First I started lifting weights, then I found Qi Gong and meditation and all of a sudden I realised that movement could be medicine. If I took away the rigid mindset and found out why I truly loved moving I could find that passion again!
All this culminated in me getting certified as a personal trainer and Qi Gong instructor so that I could help others reclaim a joyous relationship with their body.
I’m now a busy parent of three and seeing them grow and experience their bodies is one of the greatest privileges of my life.
